le doublé
In 1965, at around 3pm Jacques Anquetil rode down the final mountain and won the Critérium du Dauphiné Libéré, the arduous eight-day alpine race. He then sat through 2 hours of interviews, caught a 6.30pm plane to Bourdeaux, ate a light meal at midnight (he had a stomach cramp so didn't want much), then started the Bourdeaux-Paris, the world's longest single-day race. 14 hours later, with no sleep, legs of jelly and being spurred on only by his manager Raphaël Géminiani's constant cries of "come on you great poof", he crossed the finish line as the winner. What did you do today?
